Guys,
I decided to breakdown the machine and give it a good cleaning earlier today. Now that it's back together, I noticed that the Z is doing that thing that many have experienced. It doesnt bind or stall the motor but any jog speed over 20ipm makes the axis vibrate while travelling down the column. Up the column is no trouble. I adjusted the side shoes following Nick Carters suggestions and it's great until I replace the spindle motor.
I tried doing the adjustment with the motor attached but I couldnt get the vibration out that way. I could try to clamp the shoes and then tighten the screws but will that cause damage?
There's no side to side movement so I don't think it requires a gib adjustment.
Thoughts?
