Hello, I have a Mori Seiki SL3 with a fanuc 5t and also have a miyano with a Yasnac 2000G; they are both working pretty good now, with the inconvenience of loading the programs. I got this part text from another thread "Regarding RS232: 5T controls have no way to send or recieve programs via RS232. If your machine has a serial port, then it has some type of aftermarket BTR interface board installed. If you get it to work, then more power to you. However, I strongly recommend Dan's PC-DNC software and cable. It's freakin awesome and adds a lot of functionality to the old 5T controls. **" Before downloading the software I want to know if I can work from my laptop computer which has only USB ports. What else do I need? Can it work in both of my machines? Thanks |

| Sorry, but you need a parallel printer port (LPT1 or LPT2) to use the Multiport PC-DNC Editor with the BTR interface. A USB-to-parallel adapter will not work. The software does work with the Yasnac 2000B and 2000G, as well as the Fanuc 5T, the Fanuc 2000C and 3000C, and the system 6M and 6T. The Yasnac cables are different than the Fanuc cables, however. |

| jolulank: I've found a few sources for a PCMCIA card that has a standard parallel printer port. I've never tested this with the BTR connection, but from the specs I've been reading, it should work with our MultiPort PC-DNC Editor. If your laptop has a card slot, this card should work where the USB adapter will not. Here's an example: http://www.qualitycables.com/Categor...catid=445&AZX= There are many different kinds out there, and you might find a better price by typing "PCMCIA parallel" into Google search. |
