I have a 14" x 40" bench top taken apart and checking where to change the casting. If you look at my website
http://www.majesticmachinery.com and click on lathes, I am considering the RK1440-1 and the RK1440B models. There are a few major things in consideration at the moment.
1) Use existing cast or start from scratch
2) How to integrate threading with current hardware without getting too carried away with the price
3) Use one or two ball screws on the "Z". I have seen retrofits that use the flat and V configuration of ways slide uneven and "catch up" after the screw has stopped turning. Or use linear guides, thus new cast.....
In other words, it's coming. I have a lot on my plate but I will have a finished model by October or sooner per the current plan.
Thanks !!
