Hello forum,
I'm new to this forum, and just bought my first lathe - a Weiss WM180V.

I have worked a bit with lathes before in school some years ago.
I have read through the manual, and there are expressions I don't find familiar, and need an explanation for. The manual is english, and my native language is danish.
Here we go:
The manual says: "
Clean all components of the end gear assembly and coat all gears with heavy, non-slinging grease."
What is
non-slinging? In the lubrication section of the manual, it says "
Lubricate the change gears and the leadscrew with a lithium-based grease."
So I need a "
heavy lithium non-slinging grease" for all the gears and the leadscrew or should I apply different kind of grease for the non-changeable gears and the change gears/leadscrew?
I would guess that "heavy non-slinging grease" is a thick, non-fluid-like grease that creates "hair-strains" between the rotating gears. Am I right?
Since the lathe is manufactured in China, it's kind of dirty. Would I be doing something wrong in disassemble the lathe and clean contact surfaces (with diesel fuel/kerosene as the manual recommends) and then re-lube the surfaces with the recommended "20W machine oil"? The lathe will be stored inside the house and moved outside or to a workshop when used.
Hmm, that's about the questions I've got right now. I just figured out what "taper" was when looking through the manual again :-)
I'm sure more questions will come when I start using the lathe. But I also have a forum in my native language for that kind of help.
Thanks.
Best regards,
Futterama
