The combined CAD/CAM package is fairly prevelent, but some like to draw up in a CAD system they are familiar with such as AutoCad, then import it into the CAD/CAM pgm for processing via DXF etc.
Usually the post-processor is built into the CAM pgm.
So you have CAD, CAD/CAM/P.P. and Modem, and any combination of all three.
