Those steppers should be fine with a Xylotex. If you run them at 2.5a/phase, you'll get about 90% of the rated torque. According to Jeff at Xylotex, if you run steppers at their full rated current, the microstepping won't be as smooth. He recommends a little less than full rated current for best performance.
Not sure about the automation direct drives, but the Xylotex will work fine with a 4-5a power supply, Due to the chopper design it's very efficient. You can get a 28V supply from here:

Keep the motors, buy the Xylotex and a power supply like I listed above. Probably 85+% of the performance for 20% of the price.
