Thanks for the info. I guess the RAM is the bunch of IC's up the top right for the A board? Might reseat them and check again.
It was running fine for a few hours before a brief shut down (noisy fan in the transformer cabinet driving me nuts so turned off to have a look at it), then on restart got the SoftALM. Nothing around the control panel or A board was disturbed. Strange.
