Your friend is correct. Twist the black and white together and then attach to the resistor, and then the other end of the resistor to the board.
The diagram you have is demonstrating the connections inside the stepper motor. If you take the time to sit down with your motor and use a multimeter to experiment with the current connecting paths (noting their resistances) between the seperate wires then that diagram will make a little more sense. |
