I am at present a CNC newbie, and its like standing on top of a really high cliff, looking down and only seeing clouds, and wondering how far down the ground is below. Its all new, i have seen everything from machines that will only write on something the size of an A5 sheet of paper, to machines that can route a board 8' by 8'.
I have come down the modeling route to get to this juncture, and if properly done, all the components to make up an RC aircraft can be milled out of plywood or balsa, especially the ribs in the wings, and it can be done with greater accuracy, in the end resulting in a kit that is pleasant to build, instead of one that has to be mackled with every step of the way.
I have seen lots of machines, even to my surprise, those made out of wood, but then again, why not, if the forces are not great on the tip, why not. It would do equally as good a job, just take longer to do it.
Heres the crunch, i am on a limited budget, as are most of you probably, and have considered building one from scratch, but have also considered buying one. The machine would have to be able to mill or route 1/4 inch plywood, and if it can do that it can do the balsa bits, with no problem. can anyone help before i end up going down a monumental money marathon, and still would not be happy at the end, is there such thing as a kit, i have access to a lathe, mill, drills etc, etc so putting something together is no problem, and i am a computer operator, so the software shouldnt be to bad to get to grips with, he said jokingly

Hope someone can help, but it needs to have a bit more grunt than these dremel powered machines i have seen.
