The tool post I put on was a Phase 11 QCTP, (quick change), I don't regret that.
Unless you intend doing some manual maching, IMO, the compound rest can come off.
Your choice.
Usually with full CNC, you can get creative with macro programming for one off jobs,
I agree it may take a bit longer, but you get the repetitive accuracy of CNC.
Everyone has their preferences.
