I don't work for VX but like plugging their products so I'll say you won't regret the purchase of VX end to end. When i bought the full product it was in the $10k USD range. The only thing I really wish VX did was make the interface more intuitive. VX doesn't seem to promote or compete with the competition. I'll put it toe to toe with Unigraphics or Catia (both of which I've used professionally) and safely say VX does MORE than they do for 1/4 the price.
What blows me away is their CNC package, which is the focus of my business. Another benefit over Solidworks and the like is you have the option of eliminating a history tree. When I do organic surfacing I don't want a history tree. you can use the history tree when you need to and just delete what you don't want and avoid a ton of problems.
I'll have to visit your shop next time I'm down Under...
