I've never had a tailstock limiter alarm on a Hardinge, although they have been knocked out of alignment a few times.
Z-axis, yes, tailstock, no.
Since you have the OT Realease button, hold it in while turning the handwheel. Once you hear it pop off the limiter, power down, and back up. Home turret. You should be fine at this point.
Post back if this doesn't solve your problem.
EDIT: If it doesn't 'pop', then you will have to try something else.
