Howdy all ,
For those that are thinking of changing out the 10tpi acme screw to 5 start screw , DO IT ! . I just changed mine out, what a difference. The machine is quieter, smoother and really just looks more professional when it runs. I tuned it to do rapids at 320ipm ( can go faster but this seemed alot smoother and heck, 4X's faster then I was able to go before) I got my screw at Mcmasters
http://www.mcmaster.com/itm/find.ASP...ring=99030A704
and leadnuts at
http://www.dumpstercnc.com/leadnuts_acme.html don't forget to add the flange you need ( I did

, no biggy just modified holders and saved 7.50

So nice to have a machine you can make your own parts with.
I also got thread clamps
http://www.dumpstercnc.com/thread_clamps.html
I got the parts for all three axis but only changed out X & Y I figured I didn't need that fast of Z axis . Silly me,I will now have to build something to use all my extra parts
Just thought I would let you guys know of my experience with it, I have been heehawing on doing this for months ok over a year ( thanks JAY )
by the way I am still using the 200oz motors from hobbycnc. as stated at the begining of this . The machine runs smooth ,seems like motors work better not having the 16000 steps ...
well guys have a good day
