This is my first post on this forum. I am a retired "shop" teacher (38 yrs) working as a machinist/cnc operator for the past 4 yrs. for a former student of mine. Maurice, I find myself in the same boat. Recently acquired an Orac lathe however i'm afraid I can't claim the "at a good price" part. I bought "as is" with the hope that things would be operational but of course it didn't turn out that way. Mechanically things are fine, spindle works, but only one axis is functional. I have purchased the Mach 3 license and hope to do the conversion you speak of. I would be interested in following your progress and experiences with this project if you are inclined to share them. I of course am happy to reciprocate. My progress is likely to be slow as I seem to have way too many irons in the fire as per usual. |
