I dont have the answer to most of your questions.
but i do know if you are running full steps verses 1/8 step, the 1/8 step will be slower and more accurate.
the lower the fraction, say 1/16 takes more pulses per second to turn the motor. we are ususally held back by the weakest link, say the computor processor speed, or the speed in which the controller can process the signals.
i like speed myself. sorry if this is not much help, i am fairly new to this, and in fact you could probably be helping me with my machine.
are you using the 4030 drivers? tell me about your machine.
