yes,right now i have plain water in it but i will add some washing soda in it soon,as far as cleaning it i have a hose spigot screwed in the bung with a domed stainless strainer glued over the pan outlet to keep the debris from entering the spigot,you can see it on bottom photo on left side of pan
I also plan to hang some 1/4 inch hardware cloth under bed slats to catch small drop outs to retreive them easier than from the murky depths of the bottom.
