Since nobody else seemed to be offering stock (as opposed to custom) 3D scans for sale, I decided to do it myself, starting with scans from my own collection, but with the capacity to offer scans from others. If you've got some great scans you own the rights to, please get in touch if you'd like to sell them and split the proceeds.
3DScanHub.com is at the center of a cluster of sites: PeopleScans.com , 3DNatureScans.com , FossilScans.com , SculptureScans.com and AntiqueScans.com . For reasonable prices, anyone can now download highly-detailed surface maps, mostly in STL format, and use them in their own projects. As the site names imply, the scans featured are based on human beings, natural objects, fossils, sculpture by contemporary artists, and antiques. The STL files can be reproduced as physical objects by anyone with a 3D-capable CNC mill or router, or by using a 3D printer.
As well as offering scans for sale, we've got information on 3Dscanning, links to scan-related sites including custom scanning companies and scanner manufacturers, and a gallery of applications for 3D scanning.
To kick things off, we're offering a FREE DOWNLOAD of one of our scans, the Heartshell, as an STL and PDF, which anyone can view from many angles using the ubiquitous Adobe Acrobat reader. Just go to the site: 3DSCANHUB.com and click the banner on top - it will ask for your name and email address, and send you a link with a code you can enter at checkout (use the Paypal, not the credit card option).
Happy Valentine's Day!
