Default I connected my Roland Picza30 to my notebook using a 9 pin to 15 pin port adaptor.

Well I did connect my Picza 30 to my Notebook, using a 9 pin to a 15 pin port adaptor, and the only port (port 3), that does work yields this message. "Failed to get name of connected model. Try again." This is the same message I get when I forget to turn on the scanner using my desktop that works perfectly . Any comments? If not, I am guessing that the ports are not compatible. I am now wondering if a serial port card would work.
    Thanking you is,

It sounds like that didn't work. Let us know if you have any better luck with the serial port card. Another thing you can try is a USB to DB9 adaptor: UTS-1110A - Antaira Techonologies (no guarantee that will work either).

Or go back to using a desktop...

    15 pins? on the laptop?

that would be a standard vga video port

rs-232 serial ports have 9 pins
