Those steppers, if they are 24 steps per rev, will probably not be ideal. 12 volts is not ideal either.

If I were you, I would look for 200 PPR (1.8 degree step) steppers at around 1 to 2 amps and +/- 5 volts. These can be driven by an inexpensive driver board and power supply and will have good resolution/ torque.

I am guessing your steppers are low in the way of torque, probably in around 20-40 oz in.
