Ken, I did explain what move to Z is for. It will bring a selected bunch of XY plane entities to the same plane, at least in XPert it does. Translate is similar except that you would have to find out what the Z values were for each one, whereas Move to Z doesn't care what the original Z values are.
I am not sure, but if the entities have any kind of slope in XZ or YZ, then I think the function Move to Z cannot work, because this would be attempting to force a projection onto a 2d plane. I've thought such a thing could be a handy function in itself, as it would help make certain chain trimming operations a lot simpler.
