Cleaning up linear bearings? | | So at the local scrap yard I found a pile of 12 Thompson linear bearings for 1/2 inch shaft. They were pretty dirty, and they had a little rust on the outside, but they were absolutely packed with grease on the inside. I figured for the $1.50 each he wanted for them I could take a chance. I put them on the shaft I got with them and measured maybe within a mil of deflection. How would you guys recommend cleaning out the grime? Right now I'm just using citrus cleaner and have gotten them such that I can push the balls around in the races no problem, but they're still a little chunky. Anything you guys would recommend? |
