The Kurt D688 vise protrudes about an inch out the rear of the Tormach table when using Kurt D50-33A step keys (11/16 x 5/8)

I liked the Kurt D50-33A step keys (11/16 x 5/8) so much that I mounted a 5X7 angle table on ˝” tooling plate with the vise keys mounted same as way as the Kurt vise. That way the vise and angle table can be easily interchanged and line up perfectly with X axis. Also the slot in the acrylic shield allows the vise to be loaded with the shield in place. see:
