Given:
1. This is the woodworking forum so you're building a wood router.
2. The thread subject is 3x6 so you are going for a 3 feet by 6 feet footprint (cutting area somewhat less).
3. Your router is about 1 horsepower, 110Vac.
4. You can live with 0.030 (~1/32 inch) accuracy.
5. You plan on solid end supports for your rails.
6. You have a very rigid base to build on.
Answers:
A. Your 3 foot span (Y axis) will probably be ok with just end supports.
B. Your 6 foot span (X axis) will need at least one center support.
