I use them a lot!! I also use spade drills for bigger holes 1.5" and up mostly for deep drilling. When you think about price you also have to factor in the machine time and that will make the cost a lot less when comparing cam drills to regular drills also they are alot stiffer so you do not have to worry about them walking on you. I usually use them for holes that will be milled to a certian size. The cam drill will be about .01 less than the final size so I make just one trip around, I would not try that with a regular drill even if it was a jobber length. For drilling big holes or deep holes I usually go with a spade drill, even faster than a spade drill. Once you go to either one of these you will not want to use anything else!! |
