maybe just luck for me but i was running it in xp service pack2 i think it was. i know it was xp. as for the port i think if you go to the control panel and then click on system and device manager. would finish it for you but this computer doesn't have a parallel port on it
but if u look aroud in the device manager you should be able to find it. I hope this gets u closer to mission accomplished
