Hi, I've not seen a kit that looks like this or has such a low voltage rating so I'm wondering (a) what the green "wieners" are and (b) if the 9VDC @17 Amps Power Supply is a typo? Most of what I read is that stepper speed is directly related to voltage and all the other kits I've seen are 24v and 36v so this would seem like a really slow setup. Then again the amps are higher than normal so boy, am I confused :-) Is it a bi-polar or a unipolar setup and does it have opto-isolation or any built in goodies like the ability to control sensors or motor speed? Thanks much, Gerry

A: Those are resistors. Too many amps and the steppers will get way too hot. B: Surprisingly, it's not a typo. It's true. It's a Bipolar system and yes it is slow but it cuts. The fastest I ever had it was at 12 in max. You can have all the goodies with a good breakout board. Most kits don't include a good one anyway, just your basic BOB. This is a basic BOB with none of those features. But most kits anyway don't include a good BOB. -Jason
