Description:
|
If a power drawbar is not a possibility, and your mill lacks a spindle lock, this wrench is the next best thing. Designed to fit the spline on the spindle drive shaft and when used with a standard wrench allows one to torque the drawbar down tight. Getting a sufficient and accurate torque is important for several safety and practical reasons including preventing tool slip and for tool height repeatability. Whether you have a gear head and don’t like shifting to low gear or you have a belt drive and don’t like hanging on to the belts to loosen the drawbar this tool will help.
This wrench has been used successfully on Industrial Hobbies, Rung Fu, Zay, Jet, and Harbor Freight mill/drills but will likely work on many of the other imports such as Grizzly, Enco, etc. If uncertain please measure your spline and compare to the following measurements before ordering. Send a note if unsure of anything.
Made in the U.S.A., the wrenches are cut from 6061-T6 aluminum stock on an Industrial Hobbies CNC mill. Outside edges are rounded for comfort and a matte finish applied. The wrench’s length is approximately 9.5” and width is 0.75” in the handle and 1.6” in the head and was designed around a six tooth spline with actual measurements showing a major diameter of 1.1”, a minor diameter of 0.89”, and a tooth width of 0.24” though some clearance is built in to tolerate slight variations. My wrench gets a lot of use and abuse and I have not seen any indication of premature wear or fatigue in the teeth.
Custom wrenches for different spline sizes will be considered. Please contact me with the minor and major diameters and spline width before purchasing if you desire a custom spline size.
To purchase send a private message. First class shipping by USPS within the US is included in the purchase price. For other destinations please send a note first.
The Fine Print:
Please note that if your mill has a washer under the drawbar you may need to alter, remove it, or replace it with a step bushing. The washer OD is often larger than the minor diameter of the spline and thus prevents the wrench from slipping onto the spline.
Wrenches have been shipping the next working day though allow up to two weeks if requesting a specialized size.
The wrench is guaranteed to fit the before mentioned mills. If the wrench does not fit you have the option of returning the unaltered wrench for either a refund (minus shipping and handling) or for a new wrench with a custom spline size (additional cost may be required). If seeking a replacement spline size you are responsible for all shipping charges and for providing accurate measurements of the spline.
